On Thursday, May 3, 2007, four centenarians gathered in Bar Harbor at the Sonogee Rehabilitation and Living Center for high tea in celebration of Ethel Drake's one hundredth birthday. She was joined by dozens of her friends and family. A few weeks earlier, a high tea was celebrated for the one hundredth birthday of Doris Karst. Both Ethel and Doris are members of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. Ethel is in the center of the photograph above. Doris Karst is to Ethel's left. Mildred Fletcher, who is 102 years old, is to Ethel's right. The fourth centenarian, Louise Libby, is not shown in this photograph.
Members of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, provided tea and cake. Jack Drake, Ethel's son, played the organ and led the party in song. The Reverend Doctor Sandra Reed greeted the centenarians on behalf of the church. Our thanks to the Sonogee Rehabilitation and Living Center for the use of their facility.
